The following FAQs do not pertain to anything related to gift cards. Please review our gift card buying policies for more information regarding that topic. Should you have a question that is not answered below, contact us or give us a call at 619-500-3349.
Are you licensed buyer and/or pawnbroker?
Yes. We are a licensed secondhand dealer and pawnbroker in the state of California and report all transactions to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSO). Our license number is 000000946.
What do you offer on items?
With the exception of precious metals, jewelry, and pawns, we typically offer between 25%-50% of the recent, trending sold value of an item according to eBay, in which used items are considered “used”, and brand new are considered “new-other”, “like new” or “used”, depending on several factors. Precious metals and jewelry are appraised using our refiner’s schedule, as well as the current value of precious metals by weight and karat. The offer we give is approximately 30%-50% of that estimate. Pawn offers (excluding precious metals and jewelry) require each item to have a minimum recent, trending sold value of $100 or more, according to eBay, under the same condition-related considerations mentioned above.
Do I get cash for my items?
Yes. If you accept our offer we will give you cash for your item(s). There are no checks or wiring of funds.
How do you weigh gold and silver?
We weigh gold in grams and silver in troy ounces.
Do you buy jewelry?
Yes, but we may need to send the item(s) to our jeweler, which can take at least one business day to be evaluated and properly appraised. This may also done for gemstones.
What do you buy?
Jewelry, Diamonds, Electronics, Computers, Laptops, Tablets (Non-Carrier), Gaming Consoles, Gadgets, Small Appliances, Power Tools, Gold and Silver. This list does not necessarily reflect our current stock.
Why do you not buy or pawn cell phones or smartphones?
Today, most cellphones, smartphones, and even some tablets are not considered the property of their “owner”. There are two main reasons for this.
First: In most cases, the owner is making payments on the device, and is compensating for it on a month-to-month basis with their telecommunications carrier as an add-on fee to their service subscription. They are obligated to pay for the financed device in full or return it as part of a 12/18/22 month trade-in program (ex: Samsung Forever, iPhone Forever). This is considered an item that is lease-to-own (and “on loan” for trade-in programs). It also applies to devices subsidized on 24-month service contracts. Thus, the phone is not the “yours” until you either complete the contract or pay off what you owe on the device.
Second: Most people are not aware that you may need permission from the carrier to sell your device. It may need to be released from your account with your carrier as well. Smartphones and some tablets today have a unique number associated with the device called ESN, IMEI, or MEID. This number is associated with your account with the carrier. If the owner of the device stops paying the carrier’s bill or reports the device stolen, the ESN/IMEI/MEID will be blocked from being activated by the carrier and possibly any other carrier as well.
This is especially prevalent with Apple devices, which uses Apple iCloud to both store data and protect the device. Microsoft devices use a similar service called Microsoft Cloud Protection and Android devices use Google Cloud Platform. In order to sell a device using any of these operating systems, they must be completely disassociated with the corresponding Apple/Microsoft/Google account.
To note, while it is possible to check this information on websites like Swappa, we know, based on experience, that this method of examination is not foolproof. Thus, we generally do not take a chance by purchasing these devices. In the future, we may change this policy; however, we will only purchase devices that are either unlocked or with a major carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint) and are placed on a selective list of newer, popular devices.
What do you not buy or pawn?

Do you offer trade?

We may also reserve a parking space for you. Without an appointment you may need to wait and parking availability is not guaranteed.

Tablets and similar mobile devices must have Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later, iOS 10 or later, or Windows 10 or later. Apple products must be new with original packaging; no exceptions. All computers, computer-like devices and mobile devices must be completely disassociated with their corresponding OS’ cloud and/or app protection accounts, paid for in full, and not blacklisted. In addition, they must not be associated with a carrier (ex: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc).

Yes, we do pawn-type loans. The loan is for 120 days and requires collateral (the item being pawned). To collect the collateral for the pawn you must pay back the loan in full, plus interest and any applicable fees. REPAIR WARRANTY POLICY
When applicable, C&T Electronics warrants all television repairs to be free from defects in workmanship and material for a period of ninety (90) days from the date the item is indicated to be repaired on the customer’s repair invoice. The repair warranty period will not alter any original warranty periods previously in effect unless the repair warranty period is greater than the original warranty duration, in which case the longer warranty period will apply.
The repair warranty covers specific repair work done on the equipment only and does not cover damage or failure to other assemblies or components incurred during the repair warranty period. Any associated damage or failure to the equipment and its coverage under the repair warranty will be evaluated and repaired at the sole discretion of C&T Electronics. All other terms, conditions, exclusions and procedures as stated in this policy will apply to the warranty on repair items.
